Virginia,

That’s awesome to hear – it’s such a fun sport! And I also do think your going to love the 10′ Ultra. Let us know if you have any questions.

Just starting out with this sport. Went with my daughter yesterday to rent and try. I love this and cannot wait to go again. This video is so informative and as I am 5’3″ I think it is the one I want. Thanks for the info!

Hi Katy,

I think what they mean is that because the Cruiser Ultra is a little wider, you need to extend your reach a little bit to keep 110% perfect form. It’s not something that you’d notice if your form is more casual. The Cruiser Ultra is also slightly heavier than the 10′ Ultra, though again, not super noticeable on the water. If anything, the extra effort is extremely marginal; I’d estimate that it’d be less effort to paddle the Cruiser Ultra than the 10′ Ultra if extra stability is one of your priorities.

Bottom line though, I don’t think you’d struggle on longer paddles with the Cruiser Ultra. I actually used it this past weekend to go for a 7 mile paddle with my dog and we had a blast.

One more question 🙂 on irocker’s website they mention the cruiser takes more effort to paddle. Any sense on how much more effort we are talking? I’m just a little nervous if we go on longer paddles if I’m going to be struggling compared to the all around board.

Hi Katy,

In this case, I think you’d enjoy the Cruiser Ultra a little bit more than the 10′ Ultra. The 11′ Ultra is a bit faster than the Cruiser Ultra, but we’re talking by a couple of seconds during an all out sprint. That difference will be even less exaggerated if you’re both paddling around more casually. You’ll also have more space on the Cruiser Ultra to do yoga than you would on the 10′ ultra, especially considering the length of the deck pad.

Hi! I’m 5’6” and have paddled a bit and never feel unstable on boards. I am between the ultra all around 10” & the cruiser. Although I’m not super concerned with going as fast as possible my partner is getting the all around 11” and I’m worried the cruiser will be super slow in comparison. I do like the idea of having a bit more space and doing yoga on the board. Any thoughts would be super appreciated!

Hi Tracey,

I’d recommend going with the 10′ Ultra over the 10′ All-Around. We’re actually the same height and weight, and I found the 10′ Ultra to be plenty stable but still super fun and sporty; it’d actually be my go-to for beach days. As for the paddle height, it is just a hair taller than I personally prefer my paddle to be, but it’s not dysfunctional. The height is fine for more leisurely paddling. Regarding the handle placement, it hasn’t gotten in the way of my feet yet, so I don’t imagine it’d be an issue unless your stance is exceptionally narrow.

Thanks for the review. I am a very novice SUPer and have only done a couple of holiday paddles, where I managed to stay on my board without much issue. I’m a smidge under 5’2” and weigh 135ish. I’m in my 50s but am fit and active with decent balance; but not much board sport experience. I would want a board for leisure and fitness mostly on calm water, lakes, marinas etc but able to handle some pretty calm beach/surf days. I would probably buy the kayak attachment as well for a bit of fun and to mix things up. I am tossing up between buying the 10’ All Rounder and the 10’ Ultra, but I’m open to suggestions (eg 11’ or cruisers). With the ultra, would the paddle length be an issue? Also did you find the offset centre handle got in the way of footing and would this be an issue for a beginner? Thanks in advance,Tracey.
