Hi Sylvia,

Given your partner’s height, I think the 11’6 Nautical would likely be a better fit. And, yes the paddles are adjustable so you’ll be all set there.

I’m looking at pulling the trigger on the 10 six nautical but wanted to do a double check we’d be happy with anything in the under 600 range so just want to go for what’s best.
We are looking at Lake Ontario (read large Lake) some chop sometimes flat, Often wind. Both to be considered beginner to intermediate. I am 51”140 he is 510” 160. Would a 10’6” Be good for both of us or if we had to buy just one board are we better off getting the 11’6” board? I am assuming that the petals are adjustable so we don’t need two separate paddles.
we’d rather not upgrade within a year or two so would rather just spend a little extra now to get something that will last. But if the Nautical does it then all good!

Tamie,

Great question! You could carry two small kids at your height and weight on either the 10’6 or 11’6 Nautical. For your husband, he’s going to do a lot better on the 11’6 Nautical. I really like the 11’6 Nautical – it’s a great budget board that still lets you carry a lot of weight. I actually tested that with Chris, and together we had 400 lbs on the board. No, it wasn’t super great (and not on the same level as the Blackfin Model XL), but it will do pretty good for even your husband and 2 small kids. Just keep in mind, if those kids are bigger teenagers, then it will be a bit tougher and I’d for sure recommend looking at the Blackfin lineup for that.

Hope that helps!

Would you be able to tell me if one of the Nautical boards would be work to carry an adult and up to 2 kids? I am 4’10” and 95 lbs, but my husband is 5’11” and 180. Thank you!

Overall Rating:

8

You may want to revise this to reflect that these boards are now $499 (so, basically, a barely sub-$500 board).
