To be honest, I haven’t reviewed this year’s Isle Models. With the models reviewed here, I have preferred the Explorer personally because I generally like speed and the more touring shape of the Explorer is a little better for that.

I thought I’d update my comment to be a little more clear. My general recommendation between the Isle Explorer and the Thurso for an all-around board would be the Waterwalker. The Explorer is slightly more of a touring board. While the Isle Explorer can be used like an all-around SUP, the Thurso Waterwalker is more of a true all-around board.

I will say though, that when I take people out to paddle, everyone absolutely loves the Explorer. It does have a better center fin than the Thurso, and I’m not sure anyone beats Isle when it comes to design/looks of the board. It’s also very stable at 11′ long, so you can’t go wrong with either of these boards.
