Hi Steve,

The Scotty mounts only ever got in the way of our feet if we walked back towards the tail to do a pivot turn. Otherwise, they aren’t an issue.

Hi Adrian,

For that type of distance, I’d go with the Adventure. The Komodo is super wide and super stable, but is going to be on the slower side and won’t track as well, so you’d be switching sides pretty often over those 5-6 miles.

As for the size, either the 11′ or 12′ Adventure would work from someone of your height and weight. The 12′ will be a little bit faster because of the longer waterline, while the 11′ will be a little more maneuverable; it just comes down to your personal preference.

Wondering which board– I’m deciding between the Gili Adventure or Komodo board. I’m leaning toward the Adventure because it’s longer and narrower, but curious how much difference there is between the 2. I currently have the Bodyglove Performer that I’ve been using for 2 years. I know it’s not supposed to be a great board, but I like it (or I’m used to it… lol)– it just doesn’t have a lot of features.
I’m 5’5″ about 160 lbs.
